Manage your website online

WordPress is arguably the world’s most popular content management system for websites; a recent study estimates that 8.5% of the sites on the Internet today are powered by WordPress…that’s alot of websites!

You may have heard of WordPress as a blogging tool (and it does that extremely well), but over the years so many new features have been added that it is now a fully-featured content management system that powers everything from Fortune 500 websites to hobbyist’s blogs.

Using WordPress, we can build a highly-functional, easy-to-use and easy-to-update website for your small business or community organization. Updating your site is as simple as logging in (like you would do on a site like Amazon.com), navigating to the page you want to change, typing in your changes, and clicking the ‘update’ button. Need to add a new photo to a gallery, or a product to your store? It’s just about as easy.

Our custom WordPress solutions start with your site architecture. What functions do your users need? What types of content do you want to present? Who will be responsible for updating the site, and what privileges will they have? Do you need to interact with information from another site, such as a Google Calendar, a Twitter account or a news feed?

Once we’ve established the architecture, we will develop a custom theme for your site. The theme includes the graphics and typography, which are the visual elements of your pages, and how the various pages will be structured (navigation on the top or the side? How do subpages appear?).

We may also develop custom plugins, which add new capabilities to WordPress specific to your website’s unique needs, or we may be able to use publicly available plugins built by people who have already solved the same problems.

When your site is ready, we'll meet with you and your staff and provide thorough training on how to use WordPress and the custom features we have built for your site.

Maintaining your site yourself can be easy, but it’s not effortless

Updating your website yourself can be a good thing—you can make changes whenever you like all by yourself—but it is not without effort. We can make it easy to do with tools like WordPress, but you must still invest the time to write good copy, format it properly, and find relevant, related imagery. If you need help, we’re happy to assist with one of our maintenance plans.
