Website Development Process

We start with the assumption that you are not a computer techie. If you want all the gory technical details, we'll be glad to provide them, but you don't need to be a computer expert to work with us.

Initial Meeting

We will meet with you for an initial consultation, which usually lasts about an hour, at no cost or obligation to you. We'll answer your questions and find out what type of website you need. Our goal is to provide you with enough information for you to determine if you want to go to the next step.

Detailed Estimate

If you decide to go forward, we will provide you with an Estimate Request Form. This will help us to gather all the information we need to prepare a detailed written specification for your website and a cost estimate.

Development Contract

Red Letter Design will prepare a standard contract with a detailed site specification and cost estimate. A down payment of one-third of the cost estimate is due at the signing of the contract.

Gathering Content

We will help you gather the graphic and text materials needed for your website. This may include logos, photographs, and wording. This step will require some of your time to find and prepare the necessary materials.

Design Drafts

Next, we will prepare the initial page layout and visual design. Generally we prepare several alternatives to present to you. We will meet to discuss the initial drafts and refine them to develop the final page design specifications.

Code Development

Once you sign off on the final page design, we will begin the actual code development for your website. Another payment of one-third of the cost estimate is due at this time. This payment may be adjusted if your website specification has changed significantly.

Testing

We thoroughly test our coding to make sure it functions properly on a wide variety of computer systems and browsers. You will have the chance at this point to review the site and make minor corrections as necessary.

Deployment

It's ready! Upon payment of the balance due, we will upload your site to the internet.
