Brenda Egeland, Web Designer, Web Developer and Owner

BrendaEgelandNot many Maryland website designers or web developers can say that they’ve been in the computer industry for over thirty years, but Brenda can. After graduating from the University of Virginia in the early ’80s with a degree in math and economics, she jumped into software development and never looked back. Initially specializing in computer modeling and project management for the Life Insurance Company of Virginia and the U.S. Army through General Research Corporation, she quickly gained an eye for creative design and a gift for development.

In 1990, Brenda left the corporate world to focus on raising her children. She continued using her design and computer skills to serve the volunteer organizations in which she was involved. With their limited resources and vast needs, she tackled the organizations’ Web and technology projects from beginning to end learning new skills along the way.

Word about Brenda’s resourcefulness and talent quickly spread and in 2004 she founded Red Letter Design to meet the increasing demand for her web design and development services. In the three decades that she’s been in the technology field, she’s seen many technology and marketing trends come and go. She’s implemented new web development tools as the old ways fade away. But one thing is constant at Red Letter Design—helping Maryland and Washington D.C. small businesses and community organizations choose the right Internet and web technologies to meet their goals.

Red Letter Design’s Partners

No one cares more about a business than its owner. And she knows her small business clients feel the same way. Like you, Brenda wants everything done right the first time, so she handles all web design, web development and website maintenance in-house, herself. Now some might call that an extreme Type A personality, but she likes to think of it as extreme quality control.

A true Type A might have a difficult time knowing their limits, but Brenda doesn’t. What is most important is that you have access to the talent and technology you need to grow your business or organization. On occasion, she partners with other firms, either as a subcontractor to their development efforts or to provide services that are outside of Red Letter Design’s realm of expertise, such as video production, copywriting and marketing. Red Letter Design’s partners are small businesses too that share her same philosophy and commitment toward other small businesses.
